People are always asking (mostly last minute) “where should I eat in Soho?”, so I decided to make a guide of my thirty top places to eat in Soho. Despite being such a small area, Soho is filled with so many great places to eat.

1. Berenjak

The best place in town for Persian kebabs, breads & dips. They now have two locations in London (the other in Borough Market) as well as one in Dubai. The original Soho restaurant is small and buzzy. It’s best to go as a two and sit at the bar so you can watch your kebabs being grilled. In summer you can perch outside. They offer a well priced set-menu for lunch. Don’t skip on the baklava ice cream sandwich for dessert.

2. Barrafina

Four locations in London but the original is on Dean Street. Expect some amazing tapas dishes and great Spanish wines. The pan con tomate is the best you’ll have and the tortilla are amazing too.

3. The Devonshire

No introduction needed. Possibly the busiest pub in London all year round – this place prints money. If you are able to get a booking at the restaurant upstairs you can enjoy some pretty good pub food. The set menu is very well priced. My only criticism is that they squeeze in a little too many tables so it can feel quite cramped.

4. Mountain

Sister restaurant to BRAT (the best restaurant in London in my opinion). It’s a beautiful restaurant and the dishes are great too. The crab omelette is a must-get.

5. Noble Rot

A wine bar that also serves very good food. The original restaurant is in Holborn but they opened their second spot in soho in 2020. Not cheap so one for special occasions. If you go in a group get the chicken.

6. French House

A soho institution known for serving half pints (although I think they serve full pints now). Upstairs they serve some pretty good French food. The head chef Neil Borthwick is the partner of Angela Hartnett (Cafe Murano) and is ex-St John.

7. Mamapen at Sun & 13 Cantons

Crazy delicious modern Cambodian food. The panko pork toast and braised pork belly are favourites of mine.

8. L’Escargot

Another great spot for French food. The escargot, French onion soup and soufflé for desert are all a must-get here.

9. Andrew Edmunds

Modern European dishes served in a beautiful 18th-century townhouse.

10. Duck Soup

Seasonal Modern European small plates and natural wines in a relaxed setting.

11. Supernova

I don’t care what anybody says, I love a Supernova smash burgers. Great burgers, sauce and fries.

12. Blacklock

Great food, service and value. Go for dinner for a mountain of chops to share or a big sharing roast dinner on a Sunday.

13. Kricket

One of my favourite modern Indian restaurants. They have five locations across London now.

14. Hoppers

A modern Sri Lankan restaurant. The flavours in the dishes here are amazing flavours. Always get an egg hopper each.

15. Bao

Multiple locations across London but the Soho spot was their first restaurant (not including the market stall). Go for some great Taiwanese food, specifically bao.

16. Bancone

A great spot for pasta. The pork ragu mafalde & silk handkerchiefs with confit egg yolk are my favourite dishes.

17. Kiln

A modern Thai restaurant serving some interesting dishes that you won’t find elsewhere in London.

18. Noodle Inn

Fresh hand pulled and knife cut noodles made in front of you. Expect to queue.

19. Bob Bob Ricard

Known for their ‘press for champagne button’. I love the chicken kiev here. They also recently opened up a sister restaurant nearby called Bebe Bob.

20. Brasserie Zedel

My third spot for French food on the list. The food isn’t as good as French House or L’Escargot but it’s such a big grand room and the fixed menu is super cheap for this part of town.

21. Singpulah

The sister restaurant to Rasa Sayang (a popular Malaysian/Singaporean restaurant in China Town). Get the chilli crab if it’s available.

22. Bocca Di Lupo

A fancy Italian restaurant with a beautiful long bar. They also own Gelupo, a gelato shop across the street. Don’t do the large group dining downstairs as the quality massively drops.

23. 10 Greek Street

Similar to Duck Soup. Modern European small plates. A focus on wines.

24. Quo Vadis

Also a private members club. Good food and cocktails. Get a pie if they have one on the menu.

25. Gunpowder

Another great spot for modern Indian food. The soft shell crab and venison doughnut are favourites of mine.

26. Bar Kroketa

A new-ish croqueta-focused tapas bar from the guys behind Brindisa

27. Miznon

An Israeli pita focused restaurant. Good for a quick meal.

28. Bonedaddies

One of London’s top ramen spots. They do some great specials/collaborations with other restaurants. The wings are very good too.

29. Grasso

Italian American comfort food and good cocktails.

30. Bubala

The place to come with your vegan friend. The tasting menu is the way to go here.
