I wanted to keep this list all Greek restaurants because I’m always hearing people go to Mykonos and say “there’s no good Greek restaurants”. You’ll find no overpriced sushi-slinging beach clubs on this list (even though that is part of what Mykonos is about) or a little man hand feeding you gold-leaf steak.
A few notes;
📝 The best way to explore the Greek islands is by ferry. In summer ferry tickets can sell out quick so I recommend buying them ahead of time. The best website to book your tickets is on ferryhopper.com. I also find it useful to check ferry routes here.
📝 Mykonos is disgustingly overpriced. Post-covid it feels like all the prices on the island doubled. You now have to be helicopter rich to have a good time and not think about it. I highly recommend visiting other islands instead or at least tagging a trip to Mykonos on to another island visit.
📝 It’s a lot cheaper to fly to Athens and get a boat instead of flying. Plus you get to explore Athens and can tag on another island visit too.
📝 In terms of accommodation, Mykonos it’s better and cheaper to go in a group and get a big villa with a pool instead of a hotel.
📝 It’s essential to have a car for exploring the island during the day and stocking up on water & beers from the supermarket. Taxis are a pain to get and expensive so will add up quick.
📝 Plan your sunsets ahead of time. Make bookings online.
1. Kiki’s
📍Agios Sostis. My favourite restaurant on the island by a mile. It opens for lunch at 12:30. Get there for 11:30, get in the queue, put your name down, and take turns going for a dip. If you go later you could be waiting two hours but will be given free rose wine whilst you wait. They do not take bookings. They do one of the best pork chops you’ll ever eat plus grilled seafood and amazing salad dishes.
2. Souvla
📍Agioi Apostoloi. Probably my second favourite spot to eat on the island after Kiki’s. As far as I know, it’s the only place on the island that serves souvla (big pieces of pork & chicken barbecued on the spit).
3. Kastro’s
📍Mykonos Town. One of the most picturesque restaurants in Mykonos Town. Expect modern Greek seafood dishes. Book online or go early for lunch if you want to secure an end table by the waterfront.
4. Saki’s
📍Mykonos Town. In my opinion this is the best gyros/souvlaki spot on the island. They have quite a few tables so you can eat in too.
5. Nikolas Taverna
📍Platis Beach. A traditional Greek taverna with tables right on the sand. The prices are reasonable for Mykonos. A good spot to go for dinner before or after one of the beach clubs on Platis Beach.
6. Niko’s Taverna
📍Mykonos Town. An old town favourite since 1976. The food at Niko’s Taverna is good (although nothing special) but the place has charm with the way tables spill out onto the cobbled streets and up to the small square with a church. The prices aren’t too bad for Mykonos Town either.
7. Jimmy’s Gyros
📍Mykonos Town. A late night classic. Jimmy is a legend.
8. Spilia
📍Agia Anna Beach. Spillia has an incredibly low Google rating of 3.6, mainly down to service and prices, but it’s such a beautiful restaurant I felt like I still had to include it. Whenever you look up this restaurant the first thing you’ll see is photos of the hanging octopus. Although it’s small, the grilled octopus is very good here. The lobster pasta is also a popular choice but so overpriced.
9. Kalosta
📍 Panormos Beach. Another nice seafood restaurant overlooking a beach. The seafood pasta is popular here.
10. Fokos
📍Fokos Beach. A nice restaurant on Fokos Beach on one of the most remote parts of the island. You have to drive a long dirt road to get here. The food is good, but not as good as Kiki’s. Expect typical Mykonos prices even with the location.
